Who I Am
In the midst of bustling school days and the triviality of teenage dilemmas, I stumbled upon the art of crafting short stories and small novels back in 2014. Back then, my biggest worry was often no more daunting than a pesky pimple making its grand appearance on my forehead. Yeah, those were the days, weren’t they?
Revisiting those early writings now evokes a perpetual cringe accompanied by numerous facepalm moments, as I find myself muttering, “What on earth was I thinking?” But hey, we’ve all got to start somewhere, right?
Constructing intricate worlds where characters could thrive became my sanctuary, my creative haven. With the unwavering support of some truly candid friends who weren’t afraid to offer constructive criticism, I honed my craft. My ultimate goal? To one day feel confident enough to unveil these peculiar, fantastical realms and the characters within to all of you.
So, consider this your invitation to journey down the rabbit hole with me. Explore my worlds, meet my heroes, and let’s embark on this adventure together.
What you always wanted to ask…
You’re likely mulling over the timeless queries: Who are you? Where do you come from? What motivates you? They’re the standard inquiries, or at least that’s my hunch. Over the past weeks, I’ve been collecting the questions that inevitably arise when conversations shift from the superficial to the profound, when we embark on the journey of unraveling the intricacies of our identities and motivations.
Let’s kick off with the basics: I was born in Buenos Aires. Surprise, surprise! Bet you didn’t see that one coming, did you? And then, in 2001, I moved to Austria. Unexpected, right? I grew up bilingually, and English is not one of my native languages. But I feel more comfortable writing in English than in German or Spanish.
Are you a full time writer?
No, I wish I was! Although, truth be told, my plate is already quite full. In addition to writing in my spare moments or during those inevitable bouts of insomnia, I juggle not one, but two full-time roles: I’m a devoted mother of two, soon to be three, boys, and I helm the digital marketing department at an online travel agency. Oh, and did I mention? I’ve also decided to embark on a journey towards a PhD.
What is your background?
Let’s just say we all have our quirks, and mine happens to revolve around a passion for learning. Seriously, it’s kind of my thing. I have an insatiable appetite for knowledge, an unwavering love for books, and an occasional indulgence in video games. It all started with a pursuit of two bachelor’s degrees in translation, and from there, I decided to up the ante by diving into three master’s programs simultaneously: media science, translation, and comparative literature. Now, you might wonder why I added comparative literature if I didn’t intend on writing the thesis — well, simply put, I couldn’t resist. I just adore books that much.
Once I wrapped up that chapter of my academic journey, I delved into yet another realm: digital marketing. And wouldn’t you know it, during the first year of that master’s program, I quite quickly got pregnant. With my soon-to-be-born son already a part of our plans, I navigated through lectures and seminars once a week, thanks in no small part to the unwavering support of my husband. So, academically speaking, that’s more or less the rundown of my journey so far… The PhD has just started and is a work in progress.
Why self-publishing?
Frankly, the decision to self-publish my books stemmed from a multitude of reasons that resonate deeply with my character. Firstly, there’s an inherent joy in the creative process itself — the freedom to weave intricate worlds, develop complex characters, and craft compelling narratives is a thrill unlike any other. Moreover, self-publishing offered me the perfect platform to not only express my creativity but also to put my marketing prowess to the test. As someone entrenched in the world of digital marketing, the opportunity to apply my skills to promote and distribute my own work was both exhilarating and enlightening. And let’s not forget the allure of a challenge.
Taking the road less traveled, forging my own path in the literary landscape, and overcoming the hurdles of self-publishing held a certain appeal — a challenge I couldn’t resist embracing wholeheartedly. So, in essence, self-publishing became not just a means to share my stories with the world, but also a journey of personal and professional growth, fueled by passion, creativity, and an unwavering determination to succeed. Well will see about the last part, though.
Some last words?
Although my intention was simply to offer you a peek into my world and share a bit about myself, I can’t help but acknowledge the peculiarity of this moment. It’s almost like conducting an interview with my own reflection in the mirror.
Nevertheless, if there’s anything you’d like to know about me, don’t hesitate to ask. I’m more than willing to answer any questions that come to mind. Whether you’re an aspiring writer seeking guidance or curious about marketing strategies, feel free to connect with me and send a direct message.
